This tutorial here will show you how to install an easy/basic MySpace layout provided by Custom MySpace Profile. First log into your Custom MySpace Profiles account – when you’re logged in go to our Custom MySpace Layouts section. In this section select a layout you would like to use. Once you have selected a layout you like (make sure that the difficulty level is set to “Easy” to follow with this tutorial) hit the “Download” button.
When the file is done downloading and you have extracted the files, go to the folder of where the files are contained to find the image files.
We need to upload these images to an image host, don’t know what an image host is? Check out What is a image host? in our FAQ section. In this tutorial we are going to be using Photobucket. So now go to photobucket and log into your account, and get to your dash board. Once at your home screen / dash board hit the "Choose Files" button:
Navigate to where you have saved the MySpace layout images – select all of them and hit open button. Once all the images are uploaded to your account it’s time now to edit the code to use on your profile.
Now open the aboutme.txt file as we need to find our dead image URL’s and replace them with live image URL’s. So with a PC and note pad hit CTRL+F to bring up the find window:
On a Mac in notepad hit Open Apple + F to bring up the find window.
In the Find what / Search window type in “YOUR-URL” and hit the “Find Next” button to bring you to your first dead image URL. Inside that code you should see something like “YOUR-URL/background.jpg” or something with the lines of that
We need to replace that image with live image URL, go back to your photobucket account and find the file that has a filename similar to the one in the code. Once you have found that image, simply click on the box right to the Direct Link text. This will copy the live image URL into your clipboard.
Now that you have the live URL inside your clipboard it’s time to replace the code of the dead image URL with the live one. Highlight the dead URL image code and backspace it out and paste in the live one:
Now hit CRL+F(open apple f on mac) and hit “Find Next” to find your next dead image URL to replace.
Repeat the past few steps till you get a message box stating 'Cannot Find "YOUR-URL"'
You are now ready to use this code for your MySpace profile, hit CTRL+S(open apple + s on mac) to save this file. Once saved hit CTRL+A (open apple + A in mac) to select all then hit CTRL+C(open apple c on mac) to copy the code.
Log into your MySpace account and go to Profile->Edit profile to bring up your edit profile screen:
Click inside the “About Me” box and bump down any text/code you might already have in there. Simply now hit CTRL+V(open apple+v on mac) to paste in your edited code. Once the code is pasted inside the about me box hit the “Save Changes” button at the top:
That’s it! – Your profile should be ready now with your new Custom MySpace Layout:
